Parish 100 Challenge 2026 : Village Hall Challenge Set for June

Residents, families and friends across the parish are being invited to take part in Parish 100 – 2026, an annual charity fundraiser centred around community spirit, wellbeing and the great outdoors.

The event will take place on Saturday 20 June, starting and finishing at Norton & Cuckney Village Hall. Participants will meet for a briefing at 8:00am, set off from between 8:30am and 10am, and the event will run until approximately 6:00pm. If anyone wishes to take part arriving after 10:00am, clear printed instructions with maps will be left at the hall for them to follow.  Registration closes on Friday 5 June.

A shared challenge for a local cause

The aim of Parish 100 is simple but ambitious: over the course of a single day, participants will collectively complete at least 100 miles around the parish, all in support of Norton & Cuckney Village Hall.

Routes will showcase some of the area’s most scenic surroundings, including the Welbeck Estate, Creswell Crags, Warsop Woodlands and Clumber Park. The full parish perimeter stretches 34 miles, and organisers hope the event will highlight the beauty of the local landscape while bringing the community together for a good cause.

Open to everyone

Parish 100 is designed to be inclusive and accessible. Walkers and runners of all abilities are welcome, and dogs can join too, provided they are kept on leads. Participants can take part individually or as part of a group.

Organisers note that all participants are responsible for their own safety and wellbeing while taking part.

Flexible routes

All routes will begin and end at the Village Hall, forming circular loops. Participants can choose from distances of 1, 3, 5 or 10 miles, allowing people to take part at a level that suits them. Final route details will be confirmed by the end of April, with downloadable OS maps provided and route leaders available on the day. Car parking will also be available at the Village Hall.

How to take part

Entry costs are kept low to encourage as many people as possible to join:

  • £5 for individuals
  • £10 for families

To register, participants should donate via the event’s GoFundMe page and then confirm their place with organiser Gemma Palmer by providing the names of participants, entry type and chosen distance.

While not compulsory, suggested sponsorship targets are around £40 for individuals and £60 for families, with all funds raised going towards the upkeep and activities of Norton & Cuckney Village Hall. Organisers emphasise that every contribution—large or small—makes a meaningful difference.

A warm welcome at the finish

After completing their route, participants will return to the Village Hall “base camp” for refreshments, a friendly reception and a commemorative badge marking their Parish 100 achievement.

With its mix of fresh air, local scenery and community pride, Parish 100 promises to be a highlight of the summer calendar and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together.
