Councillor

Cllr. Gemma Palmer

Gemma was co-opted by the Parish Council at its Full Council meeting in December 2023. Prior to joining the Parish Council, Gemma previously served on the former Council of Norton and Cuckney Parish prior to its merger.

Gemma is proud to have a background in medicine, having studied and qualified as an NHS nurse, which she has practised through both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. It’s because of this experience that Gemma is passionate about public health and promoting fitness, health and wellbeing for the local community.

Following her career in nursing, Gemma founded her successful local business, the Gemma Palmer ADI Driving School. Because of Gemma’s work in this sector, she is an active campaigner for road safety and has previously been involved in campaigns regarding the safety of the A60 and the Cross Roads in Cuckney. Through her role as Parish Councillor, Gemma aims to promote driver education and road safety.

In addition to this, Gemma has previously been involved with local charities such as the Langwith Society, were she was able to make a positive impact on the community she lived and worked in.

Gemma has previously lived in the neighbouring Parish of Langwith before moving to Cuckney and finally settling down at her present home in Holbeck. Gemma lives in the Parish with her husband, James, and her two children.
